At SOOTHING in Shanghai's BFC, I experienced a massage shared by a practitioner and a NetEase-branded robot. For part of the session, they worked at the same time. The robot's repetitive movements felt warm to me; the practitioner handled finer, more delicate work.

That division of work was what interested me. Physical AI can enter a service through a particular task while human skill, communication and judgement remain essential. The name on the equipment does not independently establish its exact model or all of the capabilities described by related companies.

This was my personal experience on September 5, as recorded in the post and video. Warmth is a sensation, not evidence of treatment benefit. To judge sustained use, I would need to understand intervention, cleaning, maintenance, safety and cost, not just how one session felt.

The NetEase connection adds context. Reporting traces EaseFuture’s massage robotics business to incubation at NetEase Fuxi and independent operation from July 2025. EaseFuture describes body recognition, force control and imitation learning, alongside a service model combining practitioners and robots. These are company-described capabilities—not features I independently verified on this device. The equipment I photographed carried the NetEase name; its exact model remains unconfirmed. My session showed a service in use. It did not establish how well that service performs over time. Does the robot reduce repetitive workload? How often does a practitioner adjust or intervene?
