Daejeon and Sejong: from research to robots

Original media. Embedded text and audio remain in their source languages; this is not a dubbed or translated media edition.

Web editorial adaptation

The Daejeon and Sejong cards follow a research lineage, not a single-site cluster. KAIST and HUBO provide the research context; Rainbow Robotics' current contact page distinguishes its Sejong headquarters from its AI research location in Seongnam.

The company's RB-Y1 description presents a mobile dual-arm platform for work including teleoperation and AI research. A research platform enables experiments; it does not itself prove that a customer's task has been solved.

Keep the locations separate, then ask about one task, control mode, teaching effort and recovery process. This preserves the difference between research roots, the current company address and a working deployment.

DAEJEON + SEJONG — From HUBO to RB-Y1 🤖🇰🇷 A university robot. A company. A platform others can build with. This chapter of Korea’s Physical AI story starts with KAIST’s HUBO research team in Daejeon. Members of that team founded Rainbow Robotics in 2011. Today, the locations tell different parts of the story: 🎓 Daejeon — KAIST and HUBO research roots. 🏢 Sejong — Rainbow Robotics headquarters. 🧠 Pangyo — the company’s AI research lab. The company launched its RB collaborative robots in 2019 and RB-Y1 in 2024. With a wheeled base and two arms, RB-Y1 gives researchers a platform for manipulation learning, teleoperation and whole-body control. B2AGI take: The interesting part is what users can make it do. Which task can it repeat? How much human help does it need? What happens when it fails? Start with one task. Count the help. Track the failures. Repeat. 🔎 Desk research Sources: KAIST · Rainbow Robotics Scope: Research lineage and company-reported capabilities. Regional selection by B2AGI. Next: DAEGU — manufacturing and testing.
