In Shanghai, I watched a humanoid robot make my Dairy Queen Blizzard inside a real operating store.
In its August 28 announcement, DQ's China operator CFB called this the world's first Blizzard robot restaurant in a real-store environment and scheduled its opening for August 29. It described a 55-step workflow using existing store equipment and ingredients. These are operator claims, not a count or global-first assessment I independently verified during my September 1 visit.
The process felt slow to me as a customer; I did not conduct a timed, same-order comparison with an employee. But that may be exactly why this is interesting.
This isn’t about whether the robot already beats a human. It’s about whether humanoids can begin working inside environments and workflows originally designed for people.
The next question is what happens after that first order: can the same workflow hold up, again and again?
